The Austrian Clemens Gadenstätter studied composition and flute at the university for music and art in Vienna.
He completed his postgraduate studies at Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart. Clemens Gadenstätter worked intensively
about the semantic aspects of sounds. His valid interest is thereby not only for the sanctioned sound of new music,
but all sounds, which shape the hearing of western humans, as noises from daily life, entertainment music as well as
sounds from advertisement or movies. He worked with international orchestras and ensembles like Klangforum Wien,
Radiokamerorkest Hilversum, RSO Wien, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble InstanHe was commisioned by Donaueschinger
Musiktage, Salzburger Festspiele, Wien Modern and Musikbiennale Berlin.
Clemens Gadenstätter is considered as one of the most important contemporary Austrian composers and is a professor for
music theory, analysis and composition at the music university Graz.
